- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a muffin tin or line it with muffin liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, whisking until blended.
- In another bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, egg, yogurt, canola oil, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, folding gently to combine, careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the fresh, halved cherries and sliced almonds.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup nearly to the top.
- Bake for 3 minutes at 425°F (220°C), then lower the temperature to 375°F (190°C) without opening the oven.
- Continue baking at 375°F (190°C) for 12–17 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
