Method

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of self-rising flour with 1 cup of plain non-fat Greek yogurt. Stir until a shaggy dough begins to form, ensuring no dry flour remains. The mixture should look moist and slightly sticky, akin to a thick cake batter.
  2. Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and sprinkle a bit more flour on top. Gently knead the dough for about 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic, adding flour as necessary to prevent sticking.
  3. Divide the kneaded dough into four equal sections. Roll each section into a log about 4 to 6 inches long, then carefully form a circle by pinching the ends together to create the classic bagel shape.
  4. Cut pieces of parchment paper to fit snugly inside your air fryer basket. This will prevent the bagels from sticking.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Using a pastry brush, generously coat the top of each bagel with the mixture.
  6. Generously sprinkle your choice of seasoning over each bagel, pressing down gently to help it adhere.
  7. Place the bagels on the parchment paper in the air fryer basket, ensuring they have enough space between them for proper airflow. Air fry at 350°F for about 15 minutes.
  8. Carefully remove the bagels from the air fryer and let them cool for several minutes on a wire rack.
