Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of self-rising flour with 1 cup of plain non-fat Greek yogurt. Stir until a shaggy dough begins to form, ensuring no dry flour remains. The mixture should look moist and slightly sticky, akin to a thick cake batter.
- Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and sprinkle a bit more flour on top. Gently knead the dough for about 1 to 2 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic, adding flour as necessary to prevent sticking.
- Divide the kneaded dough into four equal sections. Roll each section into a log about 4 to 6 inches long, then carefully form a circle by pinching the ends together to create the classic bagel shape.
- Cut pieces of parchment paper to fit snugly inside your air fryer basket. This will prevent the bagels from sticking.
- In a small bowl, whisk together 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Using a pastry brush, generously coat the top of each bagel with the mixture.
- Generously sprinkle your choice of seasoning over each bagel, pressing down gently to help it adhere.
- Place the bagels on the parchment paper in the air fryer basket, ensuring they have enough space between them for proper airflow. Air fry at 350°F for about 15 minutes.
- Carefully remove the bagels from the air fryer and let them cool for several minutes on a wire rack.
