Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Activate Yeast: Combine 1 cup of warmed whole milk with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Add 2¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: Whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Whisk the frothy yeast mixture, ⅓ cup of melted butter, and 2 large eggs with 2 tablespoons of bourbon.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Knead Dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. First Rise: Place kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  7. Prepare Filling: Mix together ½ cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, and 1 cup of crumbled beef bacon.
  8. Roll Out Dough: After it rises, punch down dough and roll it out to a rectangle approximately ¼ inch thick.
  9. Spread Butter: Evenly spread ¼ cup of softened butter over the rolled-out dough.
  10. Add Filling: Sprinkle the bacon-sugar mixture over the buttered dough and press lightly.
