- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium skillet over medium heat until liquefied, about 2 minutes.
- Add the peeled and chopped apples, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Cook for 8-10 minutes until the apples are tender and caramelized.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
- In individual dessert cups, layer the cooled caramelized apple mixture at the bottom, filling about a third of the cup.
- Spoon on a layer of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, filling just above halfway.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream or ice cream.
- Refrigerate the assembled cups for at least 30 minutes before serving.
