Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition and then add in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts or pecans.
  6. Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop 1.5-tablespoon balls of dough and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake the cookies for 9 to 11 minutes, watching for the edges to turn golden.
  10. Allow the baked cookies to cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
