  • 1 cup Flour Use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option
  • 2 large Eggs Beaten until fully mixed
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs Regular breadcrumbs can be used for a different texture
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil Avocado or vegetable oil are alternatives
For the Tartar Sauce
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise Dairy-free mayonnaise can be used
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice Freshly squeezed is recommended
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Zest
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Dill Can substitute with parsley or chives
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Pickles Dill pickles complement this dish beautifully
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Adjust to taste

Method
 

Preparation of Tartar Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, lemon zest, dill, pickles, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir well and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes.
Breading Setup
  1. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
Breading the Cod
  1. Pat the cod fillets dry, dredge in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then press into panko breadcrumbs. Set aside on a plate.
Cooking Cod
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the breaded cod fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
