Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by peeling your sweet onions and carefully slicing off the top 1/4 inch. Create 8-12 vertical cuts around each onion.
  2. Immerse the prepared onions in buttermilk, ensuring they're fully covered. Allow them to soak for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, seasoned bread crumbs, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper until evenly mixed.
  4. Remove the onions from buttermilk and coat them in the flour mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the coated onions in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Prepare the ranch dip by mixing mayonnaise, buttermilk, garlic powder, dried dill, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  8. Once fried and drained, serve the crispy mini bloomin’ onions alongside the ranch dip.
