Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan, stir in flour to create a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in heavy cream, stirring until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat, and stir in cheddar and Gruyère until smooth.
  5. Layer thinly sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish with cheese sauce.
  6. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top layer of cheese sauce.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
