Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 315°F (157°C).
  2. Prepare your cake pans by lining with parchment paper and wrapping the sides with aluminum foil.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until blended.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and frothy.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 40-43 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cakes cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely on a rack.
  8. For the buttercream, whip softened unsalted butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and pureed strawberries.
  9. Once cooled, assemble the cake by layering and frosting with strawberry buttercream.
