Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan to prevent sticking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, melted unsalted butter, and large eggs. Blend until fully incorporated.
  3. Add vanilla extract and red food coloring, stirring until the color is uniformly distributed.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until completely smooth.
  7. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, then dollop the cheesecake mixture over it.
  8. Add the remaining brownie batter on top and use a knife to swirl through the layers lightly.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes; the sides should look set, but the center has a slight jiggle.
  10. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing into squares.
