Preparation Steps
- Wash the cucumbers thoroughly, trim both ends, and slice them into ¼-inch rounds.
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, vinegar, sugar, kosher salt, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, and chilies. Heat over medium until dissolved, about 5-7 minutes. Allow to cool.
- In a glass jar, layer cucumbers with garlic and onions for Sweet and Spicy; for Traditional Dill, include dried dill and bay leaf.
- Pour the cooled brine over the cucumbers until completely submerged. Press down gently.
- Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 48 hours to develop flavors.
