  • 1 teaspoon Oregano consider basil or thyme for a twist
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt fresh garlic can provide a more robust flavor
For Assembly
  • 1 loaf Party Rye Bread pumpernickel or sourdough can be alternatives
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley omit or substitute with chives if desired

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add equal parts ground beef and ground hot sausage. Cook for about 8-10 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
  2. While the meat is cooking, take your Velveeta cheese and slice it into small cubes.
  3. Carefully drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  4. Add the cubed Velveeta cheese to the skillet with the cooked meat and stir over medium-low heat until melted.
  5. Mix in Worcestershire sauce, oregano, garlic salt, and a pinch of salt. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Preheat your broiler to high and line a baking sheet with slices of party rye bread.
  7. Using a tablespoon, scoop about 2 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture onto each slice of rye bread.
  8. Broil for 2-3 minutes until the tops are hot, bubbly, and golden brown.
  9. Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top before serving.
