- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 1.5 to 2-quart baking dish with about 4 tablespoons of melted butter.
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Add heavy cream, corn syrup, and brown sugar, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in rum and vanilla.
- Slice the bananas and toss them in the warm caramel sauce. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
- Stir in walnuts and evenly distribute the topping over the bananas.
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the sauce bubbles.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving warm with vanilla ice cream.
