Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add in the egg and stir gently to form a cohesive dough. Press firmly into the bottom of the baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the peaches, brown sugar, cornstarch, ground cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss until fully coated.
  6. Spread the peach filling evenly over the crust in the baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the top of the peach layer.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling bubbles slightly around the edges.
  9. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
