Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add 8 ounces of sliced mushrooms and sauté for 8-10 minutes until they are browned and tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, and add 8 ounces of softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup of sour cream to the mixture. Stir continuously until fully melted and blended.
  3. Incorporate half of the 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and all of the 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted, creating a rich, cheesy base.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the same skillet, sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese on top, and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool slightly, then garnish with fresh thyme or parsley and serve hot alongside toasted baguette slices, pita chips, or fresh vegetables.
