Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned tuna, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly for about 3-5 minutes until consistent.
  2. Fold in the shredded cheese and chopped green onions gently until evenly distributed. This should take around 2-3 minutes.
  3. Shape the mixture into 4-5 equal-sized patties, about 1 inch thick. Use oil on your hands to prevent sticking. This process should take about 5 minutes.
  4. Chill the shaped patties in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to help them firm up.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter. Once melted and bubbly, add the chilled patties, cooking for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute before serving. Serve on toasted bread or with a fresh salad, and optionally broil with extra cheese on top.
