Baking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with vegetable oil.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually stir in boiling water until well combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans. Tap pans to release air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
  7. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Heat heavy cream until it simmers, then pour over dark chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
  9. Assemble the cake by spreading ganache between layers and topping the second layer.
