  • 1 cup Extra Sharp White Cheddar Cheese interchange with Swiss cheese
  • 6 cups Bread (cubed) any bread type works, gluten-free options available

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until browned, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
  2. Whisk together eggs, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, ground mustard, dried sage, and dried chives in a large mixing bowl. Slowly add half-and-half while whisking until smooth.
  3. Grease a 13"x9" baking dish and layer with cubed bread, cooked sausage, yellow and white cheddar cheeses.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered ingredients, pressing down to submerge the bread. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning. Let casserole sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden brown and a knife comes out clean. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
