Method

Steps
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper until combined. Coat the flank or skirt steak thoroughly in the marinade. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  2. Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. Grill marinated steak for 4-6 minutes on each side until desired doneness. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  3. While the steak rests, combine diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and a sprinkle of salt in a bowl. Mix until well incorporated and let sit for about 5 minutes.
  4. Gather tostada shells on a platter. Layer each shell with sliced carne asada, shredded lettuce, avocado, salsa, and finish with diced red onion and fresh cilantro.
  5. Serve with lime wedges on the side for extra citrus flavor. Enjoy immediately for crispy tostadas and fresh toppings!
