Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by washing and peeling the large pears and apples. Core and chop them into small pieces, ensuring even cooking.
- If using fresh pumpkin, peel and cube it as well; canned pumpkin can be added directly. Add all the chopped fruit, fresh pumpkin, lemon juice, brown sugar, and spices into the slow cooker.
- Place the lid on the slow cooker but prop it open slightly with a wooden spoon. Set your slow cooker to the low setting and let it work for 8 to 10 hours.
- Check the mixture for thickness after about 8 hours. If necessary, increase the heat to high for 1 to 2 additional hours.
- Once thick, carefully transfer portions of the cooked fruit into a blender and blend until smooth. Return the puréed mixture to the slow cooker to maintain warmth.
- Allow to cool slightly, then transfer into freezer bags or airtight containers for storage. Label containers with the date.
