Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Step 1: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, sear the chunks of chuck steak in batches for 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to the slow cooker.
  2. Step 2: In the same pan, add remaining oil and toss in chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until onions soften and become translucent.
  3. Step 3: Add ground turmeric, coriander, cumin, garam masala, and red chili powder to the sautéed aromatics. Stir for about 1 minute, allowing spices to bloom.
  4. Step 4: Pour in beef broth and water, using a spatula to scrape up any browned bits from the pan. Simmer for 2 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Step 5: Transfer the aromatic mixture into the slow cooker with the seared beef. Add cinnamon stick, bay leaf, chopped cilantro, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  6. Step 6: Cover slow cooker and set to cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. Let it simmer undisturbed for best results.
  7. Step 7: Once cooking time is complete, stir the curry gently. Remove cinnamon stick and bay leaf before serving. Garnish with additional chopped cilantro.
