Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, partially melt unsalted butter, about 20-30 seconds, then let it cool.
  3. Beat cooled butter with granulated and brown sugars for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract, then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just combined.
  6. If the dough feels too wet, add more flour a tablespoon at a time until it's thick.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  8. Using a large cookie scoop, drop dough onto baking sheets, spaced about two inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, watching for golden edges and a slightly underbaked center.
  10. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
