Description

A quick and delicious recipe for Air Fried Char Siu, a Chinese BBQ pork dish that is easy to prepare and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pork tenderloin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red food coloring until well combined.
  2. Place the pork tenderloin in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag or cover the dish, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
  4. Remove the pork from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Reserve the marinade for basting.
  5. Place the pork tenderloin in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through and basting with the reserved marinade.
  6. Check the internal temperature of the pork; it should reach 145°F for safe consumption. If needed, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  7. Once cooked, remove the pork from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a teaspoon of chili paste to the marinade.
  • Serve the char siu with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
