Description
A quick and delicious recipe for Air Fried Char Siu, a Chinese BBQ pork dish that is easy to prepare and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pork tenderloin
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, five-spice powder, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red food coloring until well combined.
- Place the pork tenderloin in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag or cover the dish, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Remove the pork from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Reserve the marinade for basting.
- Place the pork tenderloin in the air fryer basket and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through and basting with the reserved marinade.
- Check the internal temperature of the pork; it should reach 145°F for safe consumption. If needed, cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove the pork from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a teaspoon of chili paste to the marinade.
- Serve the char siu with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
