Description

Monkey bread is a sweet, sticky, pull-apart treat that’s perfect for any occasion. With layers of cinnamon sugar-coated biscuit dough and a gooey caramel sauce, it’s easy to make, fun to eat, and utterly irresistible. Whether for breakfast, dessert, or a festive gathering, this dish will steal the show!

Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Sugar:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the Bread Base:

  • 3 (12-ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough

Optional Add-Ins:

  • ½ cup chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup raisins

For the Caramel Sauce:

  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9- or 10-inch Bundt pan thoroughly with cooking spray or butter.
  • Make the Cinnamon Sugar:

    • In a large plastic bag, combine the white sugar and ground cinnamon. Shake well to mix.
  • Cut and Coat the Biscuits:

    • Cut each biscuit into quarters.
    • Add 6–8 biscuit pieces at a time to the cinnamon sugar bag, seal, and shake until evenly coated.
  • Layer the Dough in the Pan:

    • Arrange the coated biscuit pieces in the prepared Bundt pan.
    • If using walnuts or raisins, sprinkle them evenly between the layers of dough.
  • Prepare the Caramel Sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat.
    • Stir until smooth and bubbling. Let the mixture boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  • Assemble and Bake:

    • Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the biscuit pieces in the Bundt pan.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
  • Cool and Serve:

    • Let the monkey bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
    • Turn it out onto a large serving plate and serve warm.

Notes

  • Greasing the Pan: Be generous with greasing to ensure easy removal.
  • Serving Warm: Monkey bread is best enjoyed fresh from the oven while the caramel is gooey.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
  • Freezing: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and foil, then freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw and reheat before serving.
