Ingredients
For the Crust:
- Cream cheese – 8 oz
- All-purpose flour – 1 ½ cups
- Unsalted butter – ½ cup, softened
For the Filling:
- Butter – 3 tbsp
- Mushrooms – 8 oz, finely minced
- Onion – 1 large, finely minced
- Sour cream – ¼ cup
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Dried thyme – ¼ tsp
- All-purpose flour – 2 tbsp
Instructions
- Make the Tart Dough
- In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, flour, and butter. Mix until a dough forms.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Prepare the Mushroom Filling
- Finely mince mushrooms and onion using a food processor or by hand.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions and sauté until softened and fragrant.
- Stir in sour cream, salt, thyme, and flour. Cook for 1 minute, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Roll and Cut the Dough
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to ¼-inch thickness.
- Use a 2-inch round cutter to cut circles from the dough.
- Press each circle into the cups of a mini muffin tin to form tart shells.
- Fill and Bake the Tarts
- Spoon 1 teaspoon of mushroom filling into each tart shell.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
