Description
A delicious and creamy Blackened Shrimp Cavatappi recipe that combines perfectly seasoned shrimp with pasta and a rich sauce.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cavatappi pasta
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon blackening seasoning
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the cavatappi pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- In a large bowl, toss the shrimp with the blackening seasoning until evenly coated.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are opaque and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the cherry tomatoes and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes start to soften.
- Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Stir in the cooked cavatappi and Parmesan cheese. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the blackening seasoning.
- You can substitute the shrimp with chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
