Ingredients
For the Catfish:
- 4 fresh catfish fillets
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp hot sauce (optional, for extra heat)
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Cajun Seasoning Blend:
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
For Garnish:
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges
Instructions
- Preheat Oven – Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Catfish – Pat the catfish fillets dry with paper towels. Drizzle them with lemon juice and hot sauce, coating evenly.
- Season the Fish – In a small bowl, mix all the Cajun seasoning ingredients. Generously sprinkle over both sides of the fillets.
- Add Butter and Olive Oil – Place fillets on the baking dish and drizzle with melted butter and olive oil for extra moisture and crispiness.
- Bake the Catfish – Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the fish is flaky and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- Broil for Crispiness (Optional) – For a golden, crispy finish, broil on high for the last 2-3 minutes.
- Serve & Garnish – Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges.
Notes
- If using frozen catfish, thaw completely and pat dry to avoid excess moisture.
- Adjust the cayenne pepper for a milder or spicier kick.
- For a crispier crust, lightly coat the fillets with breadcrumbs before baking.
- Pair with coleslaw, Cajun rice, cornbread, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
