Description

Cheddar Bay Ground Beef Cobbler is the ultimate comfort food! A savory ground beef and vegetable filling is topped with golden, cheesy garlic biscuits inspired by Cheddar Bay biscuits. It’s an easy, hearty one-pan meal that’s perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided

  • 1 can (16.3 ounces) refrigerated biscuit dough

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Cook the beef mixture:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked (about 5–7 minutes). Drain any excess fat.
Add diced onion and minced garlic; cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
Stir in mixed vegetables, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.
Pour in beef broth and simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese.

  • Prepare the biscuit topping:
Cut each biscuit in half. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Stir to mix.

  • Assemble the cobbler:
Pour the beef mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Arrange biscuit halves over the top.
Brush each biscuit with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.

  • Bake:
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Let the beef mixture cool slightly before topping with biscuits to prevent sogginess.

  • To make this dish spicier, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne to the meat mixture.

  • Use low-sodium broth if you’re watching your salt intake.

  • Can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking.
