Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (natural or Dutch-processed)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg (room temperature)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Granulated sugar, sprinkles, or powdered sugar (for coating)
- Hershey’s Kisses (any flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat Your Oven:
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream the Wet Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Add the brown sugar and mix until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Shape the Cookie Dough:
- Scoop the dough into 1-inch balls.
- Roll each ball in your choice of coating (granulated sugar, sprinkles, or powdered sugar).
- Bake the Cookies:
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 7–8 minutes or until the cookies are puffed and soft in the center.
- Add the Hershey’s Kiss:
- Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each one. The heat from the cookie will slightly melt the Kiss, helping it adhere.
- Cool and Enjoy:
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5–10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
