Description

Churro Bars are a delightful and easy-to-make dessert that combines the flavors of traditional churros in a convenient bar form.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. While the bars are baking, mix together the 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Once the bars are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes. Brush the melted butter over the top of the warm bars, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  8. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a chocolate twist, drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled churro bars.
  • You can also add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for a delicious dessert.
  • If you prefer a more traditional churro flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the batter for extra warmth.
