Ingredients
- 6 slices rye bread
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 pound ground beef
- ¾ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon real bacon bits
- 1 teaspoon sweet relish
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 6 slices Provolone cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread: Butter one side of each slice of rye bread.
- Season the Beef: Mix ground beef with black pepper, salt, and onion powder. Shape into patties that match the shape of the bread.
- Cook the Patties: Sear in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side, then reduce heat and cook for another 5 minutes until fully browned.
- Make the Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, bacon bits, relish, and sugar in a bowl.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Place a buttered bread slice (butter-side down) in a skillet, add cheddar cheese, a cooked patty, Provolone cheese, and spread sauce on the second bread slice before placing it on top.
- Toast to Perfection: Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm!
Notes
- Substitute rye bread with sourdough or Texas toast for a different flavor.
- Use Swiss cheese instead of Provolone for a classic touch.
- Add caramelized onions for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in a skillet.
