A gourmet dish featuring large morel mushrooms stuffed with a creamy crab mixture, perfect for an elegant appetizer.
Ingredients
- 12 large morel mushrooms, cleaned and stems removed
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells
- 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Carefully stuff each morel mushroom cap with the crab mixture, pressing gently to fill them completely.
- In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with olive oil until evenly coated.
- Place the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the stuffed mushrooms.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the crab mixture.
- If you can’t find morel mushrooms, substitute with large button mushrooms for a similar texture.
