Description

Flaky puff pastry filled with creamy cheese and juicy strawberries, drizzled with honey for a sweet, irresistible finish. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp honey (for drizzling)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
    • In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
    • Whisk or mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Prepare the Puff Pastry:
    • Lightly flour your work surface to prevent sticking.
    • Unfold the puff pastry sheet carefully and divide it into 4–6 equal squares or rectangles using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  • Assemble the Danish Pastries:
    • Spoon a dollop of cream cheese filling into the center of each puff pastry square.
    • Top with a handful of chopped fresh strawberries.
    • Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket, pinching the edges gently to seal.
  • Prepare the Egg Wash:
    • In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water.
    • Brush the egg wash over the pastry’s surface to ensure a golden-brown finish when baked.
  • Bake:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the pastries on the sheet, leaving space between them.
    • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  • Add a Sweet Finishing Touch:
    • Drizzle the hot pastries with honey for added sweetness and a glossy finish.

Notes

  • Storage: Store pastries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
  • Freezing: Freeze unbaked pastries on a tray, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag. Add a few extra minutes to baking time when ready to bake.
  • Variations: Substitute strawberries with blueberries, raspberries, or sliced peaches for a different flavor.
