Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
- 1 tbsp honey (for drizzling)
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling:
- In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Whisk or mix until smooth and creamy.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Lightly flour your work surface to prevent sticking.
- Unfold the puff pastry sheet carefully and divide it into 4–6 equal squares or rectangles using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Assemble the Danish Pastries:
- Spoon a dollop of cream cheese filling into the center of each puff pastry square.
- Top with a handful of chopped fresh strawberries.
- Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling to create a pocket, pinching the edges gently to seal.
- Prepare the Egg Wash:
- In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water.
- Brush the egg wash over the pastry’s surface to ensure a golden-brown finish when baked.
- Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the pastries on the sheet, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
- Add a Sweet Finishing Touch:
- Drizzle the hot pastries with honey for added sweetness and a glossy finish.
