Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough:

  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon milk

For the Decorations:

  • Pastel sanding sugar (pink, yellow, green, blue)
  • 24 Hershey’s Kisses or Hugs (or your favorite chocolate candy)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Dough:
    • Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
    • Gradually add in the flour, baking soda, salt, and milk, stirring until the dough forms.
  2. Shape and Roll in Sugar:
    • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat each one in pastel sanding sugar.
    • Place the sugar-coated dough balls on a lined baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  3. Bake to Golden Perfection:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 8-10 minutes, until the cookies are just set.
    • Remove from the oven and let cool for 2 minutes before adding chocolate.
  4. Add the Chocolate Kiss:
    • Gently press a Hershey’s Kiss or Hug into the center of each warm cookie.
    • Allow cookies to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for better shape.
  • Use room temperature butter and egg for even mixing.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before storing to prevent chocolate from melting.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Freezing: Freeze baked cookies for up to 3 months or freeze cookie dough balls and bake fresh when needed.
