Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet (1 ounce) taco seasoning
- 1 cup water
- 1 bag (12 ounces) tortilla chips
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- On a large baking sheet, spread out the tortilla chips in an even layer.
- Evenly distribute the beef mixture over the chips, followed by black beans, diced tomatoes, jalapeños, and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and top with sour cream, diced avocado, and chopped cilantro.
- Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more jalapeños or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes.
- Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
