This Golden Seared Cod with Herb Butter Sauce is a perfect balance of light yet indulgent flavors. The fish is seared to crispy perfection, while the garlic-infused butter sauce with fresh herbs and lemon adds a bright and savory finish. Best of all, this dish is quick and easy to make, taking less than 20 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 4 cod fillets (6 oz each)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep the Fish – Pat cod fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Sear the Cod – Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the cod fillets in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Transfer to a plate.
- Make the Herb Butter Sauce – In the same pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in lemon juice and fresh herbs.
- Serve – Drizzle the herb butter sauce over the cod fillets and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a crispy crust, make sure to pat the fillets completely dry before seasoning.
- Use fresh herbs for the best flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted in a pinch.
- If using frozen cod, thaw completely and remove excess moisture before cooking.
- To make this dish dairy-free, use olive oil or a plant-based butter alternative.
