Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter (divided)
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp seasoned rice vinegar
- 1/3 cup honey
- Kosher salt (to taste)
- Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
- Thinly sliced green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cooking Base: Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Prep the Chicken: Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise, creating four thinner pieces. Season with salt and black pepper. Dredge in flour until evenly coated.
- Cook the Chicken: Place the floured chicken in the heated pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and almost fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In the same pan, melt the remaining 1 tbsp butter over medium-low heat. Add sliced garlic and stir constantly for 30-60 seconds until fragrant.
- Deglaze and Thicken the Sauce: Pour in soy sauce and seasoned rice vinegar, scraping up browned bits. Stir in honey, black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Let simmer for 4-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Combine Everything: Return the chicken and juices to the pan. Simmer for 1 minute to meld flavors.
- Serve & Garnish: Plate the chicken, drizzle with sauce, and garnish with green onions.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic slices to prevent burning and enhance flavor.
- Avoid overcooking the chicken to keep it juicy.
- Let the sauce thicken naturally by simmering it gently.
- Adjust sweetness by reducing honey to 1/4 cup if preferred.
- Add spice with red pepper flakes or Sriracha.
