Ingredients
- 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded (about 1.5 lbs.)
- 1 cup buffalo wing sauce
- 2 (8 oz.) blocks cream cheese, cubed and softened
- ½ cup ranch dressing
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded (divided)
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
- Blue cheese crumbles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Slow Cooker:
- Spray the inside of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Set the slow cooker to low heat.
- Layer the Ingredients:
- Add the shredded chicken to the bottom of the slow cooker and pour the buffalo wing sauce over it. Stir until the chicken is evenly coated.
- Layer the cubed cream cheese, ranch dressing, and sour cream over the chicken. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, reserving the remaining ½ cup for later.
- Cook the Dip:
- Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on low heat for 1½ to 2 hours. Avoid stirring during this time to allow the ingredients to melt together evenly.
- Stir and Finish:
- After 1½ hours, open the slow cooker and stir the dip thoroughly until the cream cheese and cheddar are fully melted and combined.
- Sprinkle the reserved ½ cup of cheddar cheese on top, cover, and cook for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
- Serve and Garnish:
- Garnish the dip with sliced green onions and blue cheese crumbles if desired.
- Serve directly from the slow cooker, set to the warm setting, with tortilla chips, celery sticks, carrot sticks, or crusty bread for dipping.
Notes
- For a milder dip, use a mild buffalo sauce or reduce the amount of sauce.
- You can substitute the ranch dressing with blue cheese dressing for extra tangy flavor.
- Shred your own cheddar cheese for the best texture and melting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the slow cooker or microwave before serving.
- Feel free to customize with extra mix-ins like diced jalapeños or roasted corn for added flavor.
