Description

Zebra Cookies are a delightful treat that combines vanilla and chocolate dough to create a visually appealing and delicious cookie.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough in half. To one half, add the cocoa powder and milk, mixing until fully incorporated.
  7. Take a tablespoon of each dough (the plain and the chocolate) and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Gently press down each ball to flatten slightly.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, try adding a teaspoon of almond extract for a different flavor profile.
  • You can also drizzle melted white chocolate over the cooled cookies for an extra touch of sweetness and decoration.
