Description

A quick and easy recipe for ground beef pasta that can be prepared in just 30 minutes, perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 12 ounces pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Add vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, or zucchini to the skillet for extra nutrition and flavor.
