Description
A quick and easy recipe for ground beef pasta that can be prepared in just 30 minutes, perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 12 ounces pasta (penne or rotini)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3 minutes until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
- Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
- Add vegetables like spinach, bell peppers, or zucchini to the skillet for extra nutrition and flavor.
