Description

A delicious and spicy Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak recipe that combines shredded chicken, spicy wing sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese in a sub roll.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1/2 cup spicy wing sauce
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced thin
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 sub rolls
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped cilantro (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, toss the shredded chicken with the spicy wing sauce until well coated. Set this mixture aside to let the flavors meld.
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until they soften and begin to caramelize. Season with salt and black pepper as desired.
  3. Stir in the buffalo chicken mixture into the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Cook for another 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until everything is heated through.
  4. Preheat your oven’s broiler.
  5. Cut the sub rolls lengthwise and arrange them on a baking sheet. Evenly distribute the spicy chicken mixture into each roll, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Place the baking sheet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, watching closely until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Take the hoagies out of the oven and sprinkle with chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For a milder taste, lessen the amount of spicy wing sauce or opt for a mild variant.
  • For an added kick, consider including sliced jalapeños.
  • For a lighter alternative, swap the sub rolls for lettuce wraps or whole grain options.
